On Tuesday, the third day, Jesus did so many things. Jesus and the disciples take the same path that they had taken the day before back to Bethany so they had to go past the same fig tree again. This time however they noticed that the tree had withered. Jesus uses this opportunity to teach them about mountain moving faith in Mark 11:22-24. He starts out by saying “Have faith in God”. Once you have faith you can ask God for anything and believe that we have received it it shall be yours. But we also have to remember that when we stand praying that we cannot have anything against anyone in our hearts. We must forgive them so that our Father in heaven may forgive us.
Jesus then goes back into the temple and teaches 3 parables: the parable of the two sons Matt 21:28-32; the parable of the vineyard and the wicked servant in Matt 21:33-41; and the parable of the marriage feast in Matt 22:1-14
We also see on this day the Pharisees and the Herodians questioning Jesus trying to trap Him regarding taxes in Matt 22:15-22
We then see the Sadducees questioning Jesus about marriage in the resurrection referring to Deuteronomy 25:5-6 about marriage trying to show a logical inconsistency in what Jesus taught. However, Jesus replied that they didn’t understand the scripture themselves or the power of God. He then rebutted their theory with Exodus 3:6 that showed the inconsistency in their anti resurrection theology
We finally see the Pharisees once again question Jesus about the law and its most important commandment. He replied with two scriptures Deut 6:4-5 and Lev 19:18.
We see: Jesus denounce the scribes and Pharisees ;Teach on giving and the widow’s mite; Prophecy about the destruction of the temple; The Olivet discourse about the abomination of desolation; Five more parables – watching while the owner is away, the thief in the night, the faithful and wise servant, the ten virgins, and the talents; Jesus teaches about the separation of the sheep and the goats at the end of time and His death in two days; The chief priests and elders plotted to arrest and kill Jesus; Mary washes Jesus feet at the home of Simon the leper; & Judas betrays Jesus
